Leadership for Safety Excellence
Description
This two-day course is designed to strengthen supervisors’ capabilities in managing health and safety responsibilities. Emphasis is placed on understanding legal obligations, recognizing the importance of enforcement and overcoming common workplace challenges. Participants explore the importance of completing hazard assessments, conducting worksite inspections, leading incident investigations and ensuring effective workplace training and communication. Additionally, participants gain practical knowledge in each of these elements.
The course also introduces Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), Safe Work Practices (SWP) and Safe Job Procedure (SJP) development. This course focuses on the core elements of a strong safety culture, highlighting the benefits of employee engagement, leadership commitment and continuous improvement in creating and maintaining a safe work environment.
This course is also available On Demand to complete in your own time within 60 days.
Proficiency Certification
To receive Certification of Proficiency, participants are required to complete four assessments. Two are conducted at their place of employment and two are completed using the On-Demand Simulated Scenario:

Documents must be submitted within 30 days of completing the course.
The certificate of proficiency for this course is mandatory to receive your company’s COR® or SECOR™, as well as to receive NCSO®/NHSA™ certification.

- Certificate has a 3-year expiry
- Satisfies audit requirements for COR® and SECOR™ job-specific training
- Compulsory course for NCSO® and NHSA™ certification
- Satisfies course requirements for COR® & SECOR™ recognition
CEU Credits
Completion of this course will earn 5 credits towards the Gold Seal Certification. LSE Is also a mandatory requirement for the Foreperson application.
This course may be eligible for BCRSP CPD points through the Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals and Continuing Education Units through the Sask Operator Certification Board.
Leadership for Safety Excellence training is eligible for partial credits towards the Blue Seal Certificate through the Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission.
