General Scaffold Safety Training
Description
This one-day, in-person course is designed to provide construction workers, supervisors and safety personnel with the knowledge and skills to work safely on and around scaffolding systems, in compliance with Saskatchewan legislation. Participants learn the different types of scaffold systems commonly used in the construction industry, their components and the correct procedures for setup, use and inspection. Learners gain an understanding of their legislated responsibilities and requirements in Saskatchewan.
The course emphasizes the recognition and control of common hazards associated with scaffolding, including falls, collapsing structures, falling objects and unsafe access. Participants complete a hands-on practical component to reinforce safe setup practices, identify potential hazards and apply inspection requirements in a real-world context.
This course does NOT certify participants to erect, dismantle or inspect scaffold systems. Those responsible for the inspection of scaffold systems must have the required competency (knowledge, training and experience) and be deemed competent by the employer.
